After a long day at work, sometimes all you want to do is come home, eat something delicious, and go to bed. All day long you have been thinking about that tasty meal. Maybe it’s chicken pasta? Maybe it’s steak. Or maybe it’s just a simple mac and cheese. Whatever it is, you finally trudge through your front door, make your way to your kitchen, and throw your hands up in the air when you realize you have no space to cook your food.
It happens to the best of us. No matter who you are, through the years you cannot help but accumulate pots and pans, dishes, utensils, decorations, and other paraphernalia that clutters your kitchen. Your first reaction might be to burn it all down. Don’t listen to that voice. Instead, undertake a simple kitchen remodeling project by organizing your storage space.
Over the years most kitchen cabinets become a home not only for dishes and utensils, but also for letters, screws, and assorted odds and ends. Here are a few simple projects that you can use to reduce some of that clutter and increase your storage space.
Add more shelves to your kitchen. Regardless of whether you place them in the small space between your refrigerator and your kitchen cabinets, or inside your cabinets themselves, additional shelves will give you extra room for assorted objects. For those feeling particularly adventurous, you can also add a shelf over top of your kitchen doorway.
Use a spice rack to organize your seasoning. You can place a rotating spice rack on your kitchen counter top, or even add a multi-level spice rack to a cabinet door. Either way will not only help you keep your spices organized, but will also help reduce clutter and give you more room.
Similarly, you can use a small shower caddy to arrange your cleaning supplies. Spray bottles, plastic gloves, and sponges all should fit into a caddy. Simply hang it over the inside of the cabinet door and you will instantly have extra storage space.
